In the industrial zone close to the centre of Whyalla, SA, SSE has developed the first utility scale solar power plant in the region – SSE 6MW Whyalla.
It’s been a busy time here during the development of the Whyalla 6MW solar power plant project.Starting in early 2015, SSE Whyalla 6MW has gained the attention and support from government and investors. In 2016 the project is now DA approved, land secured and ready for construction. The project occupies a 100,000 square metre block of land.SSE has engineered a 6MW solar farm with top quality products. Our selection has been tested and widely used in the Australia market and proven to be reliable and highly efficient.
Once complete, the 6MW solar power plant will pump out 1GWH per year and reduce carbon emissions by 261,230 tonnes. It has a projected life span of 25 years, giving investors and the planet a great return.
South Australia has high quality solar resources giving it an advantage in attracting renewable energy investment and helping it deliver more than 40 per cent of its power from renewable energy. The state has been at the forefront of the shift towards a low-emissions economy.
We look forward to delivering our project next year, to show that clean energy technology can be effective at protecting against power price rises.
